Our
firm traces its roots to 1907 when Angus MacDonald opened the first
law office in Lacombe, Alberta. In 1919, James. S. McCormick, Q.C.,
took up articles with him and when MacDonald was appointed a District
Court Judge, the firm passed to J.S. McCormick. His son, Donald McCormick,
also practiced with the firm and later went on to be appointed a Judge.
Recent retirees, Andy Advani, Q.C. and Alex Rose both spent their junior
years working under Don McCormick, as did Ken Cruickshank. One of Lacombe's
largest schools is now named after J.S. McCormick in recognition of
his long and tireless efforts as a School Board Trustee.
Firm members, including staff, regularly attend seminars and courses
to stay current with changes in the law. Both Mr. Cruickshank and Mr.
Hemmingson teach law-related courses in the community and have been
involved in a wide range of volunteer activities.
Our office serves as the registered office for hundreds of corporations,
ranging from small family businesses to established companies with
international interests. The firm also has extensive experience in
litigation and trial work including personal injury, divorce, estate
and commercial litigation.
Our Philosophy
We strive to always do our best for our clients.
We challenge ourselves to understand the needs of our clients, to be

by the success of our clients. We provide quality service, creative
expertise, hard-earned experience and a dedicated professional staff
in order to achieve this success.
